Edamame is combined with a spicy sauce. Serve as an appetizer, or as an accompaniment to your favorite beverage.
Ingredients
½ pound edamame
1½ quarts water
2 teaspoons salt
Spicy Sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon rice vinegar
1 tablespoon sesame oil
¼ teaspoon red chili flakes
1 to 2 teaspoons Sriracha Sauce (optional)
½ to 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
½ teaspoon sugar
Instructions
Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add the raw edamame and the salt. When the water has returned to a boil, lower the flame and simmer for 4-6 minutes. Drain in a colander.
Combine all of the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Mix in the cooked edamame so that they are coated with the sauce. Serve immediately, or store in the fridge for 1-2 days.
Notes
The spicy sauce in this recipe is delicious with potstickers and dim sum dumplings! For one pound of edamame, increase sauce quantities by 50%. - - - - - Revisions: 1. 2 May 2013 – added garlic and Sriracha sauce to list of ingredients.
