Spicy Edamame

Edamame is combined with a spicy sauce. Serve as an appetizer, or as an accompaniment to your favorite beverage.
Ingredients
  • ½ pound edamame
  • 1½ quarts water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
Spicy Sauce
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • ¼ teaspoon red chili flakes
  • 1 to 2 teaspoons Sriracha Sauce (optional)
  • ½ to 1 teaspoon chopped garlic
  • ½ teaspoon sugar
Instructions
  1. Bring the water to a boil in a large saucepan. Add the raw edamame and the salt. When the water has returned to a boil, lower the flame and simmer for 4-6 minutes. Drain in a colander.
  2. Combine all of the remaining ingredients in a bowl. Mix in the cooked edamame so that they are coated with the sauce. Serve immediately, or store in the fridge for 1-2 days.
Notes
The spicy sauce in this recipe is delicious with potstickers and dim sum dumplings! For one pound of edamame, increase sauce quantities by 50%.
